Hilarious hair issues from This Black Girl Reads.

The oddest and saddest news story of the day, borrowed from Kottke.

Sex offenders need to be tracked for the rest of their lives. Even little old Miss Soft on Crime (me) thinks that.

June was designated as Gay & Lesbian Pride Month by presidential proclamation in June, 2000. In that proclamation, President Clinton stated:
"Gay and lesbian Americans have made important and lasting contributions to our Nation in every field of endeavor. Too often, however, gays and lesbians face prejudice and discrimination; too many have had to hide or deny their sexual orientation in order to keep their jobs or to live safely in their communities."
The proclamation goes on to say, "With each passing year the American people become more receptive to diversity and more open to those who are different from themselves. Our Nation is at last realizing that gays and lesbians must no longer be strangers among friends,' as the civil rights pioneer David Mixner once noted. Rather, we must finally recognize these Americans for what they are: our colleagues and neighbors, daughters and sons, sisters and brothers, friends and partners."

Bush wants to ban gay marriage by constitutional amendment. Can I have Clinton back now?

More idiocy from the Bush admininstration (NY Times, registration required, sorry)
The United States has sided with Syria and Yemen in refusing to talk about "the empowerment of girls."

Execute the mentally ill? It's the American way. More from the NY Times.
